Experiment in Advertising #37: Pound for Pound the Most Unusal Beer Spot in Recent Memory

Produced by Idyl King Entertainment, and written/directed by Jared Loer, this spec commercial  combines a beautiful girl on the beach, a mysterious man of the sea, and Pound Beer, a fledgling beer company in SoCal.

From the writer/director: "I conceived the concept and we shot it in about half a day on a Panasonic DVX 100b. I edited it on Final Cut Pro into three different spots. The one I posted is the 45 sec. We did a 30 sec and a 15 sec as well.

"We shot in Laguna Beach. The model is a friend of mine and I actually ended up playing the other lead at the last minute when the actor we had lined up canceled. I added a pick-up shot from my apartment pool, and that was it!"

A good example of why models are not actors.
Mostly because they cant act!

Never figured why people think that ignoring the entire process of casting good actors makes for a good spot!

Shooting who ever is around mostly works for news casting and documentaries not for scripted commercials.

And there is a clear difference between independent and amateur. One is cheep on the budget the other is poor on the execution.
