Discovery Channel Discovered on the Web: OUTSIDER USA Spot Goes Viral

discovery channel James rouseSince Discovery Channel "I Love the Whole World," directed by James Rouse of OUTSIDER USA, debuted on TV earlier this month, it has been well-received by viewers and garnered positive coverage in the ad trades.

The accolades are appreciated and not wholly unexpected; what comes as a surprise is the runaway success of the spot on the Web. The ad was not seeded or expected to propel itself virally...and yet, according to www.viralvideochart.com, which scans several million blogs a day to see which online videos people are talking about the most, the spot has received more than 320,000 views to date, landing it in the site's Top 20 Viral Videos list early on.

How does ViralVideoChart.com decide what makes it onto the chart?

Here's the answer, in their own words: "We count the number of times each video is linked to and the number of times each video is embedded. Every morning, after we've had a cup of coffee, we publish a list of the 20 videos that generated the most buzz over the previous day. We reckon this is a pretty good yardstick of what's hot and what's not."

We reckon it is, too. Click Here to see for yourself why the whole world is loving "I Love the Whole World."
